Structure of engineering industry
Engineering industry is one of the largest manufacturing sectors in Lithuania after the food and refined petroleum products. This is one of the Lithuanian industries getting some of the major foreign investments. More than 115 investors have already invested in the Lithuanian engineering sector. Mechanical engineering attracts particular attention of investors. Being competitive in terms of cost and quality, this industry has successfully integrated into global supply chains.
72% of the total engineering industry output made in Lithuania is exported. Since 2010, the Lithuanian engineering industry exports are growing at 9.5% annually. Lithuanian companies produce international companies products to with the highest quality standards, such as IKEA, CIE Automative and others. Marijampolė is a place for UAB Stevila – Mori Seiki and Esprit representative, with exclusive rights in the Baltic countries.
In terms of innovation, Lithuania is a world leader in the field of laser technology. It also makes an important contribution to the development and innovation of IT, biotechnology and medicine.
